Northern Michigan Jewelry Artists Guild (NMJAG)

If you make handmade artisan jewelry in Northern Michigan, you have found your home. Join Us!  Click on the Contact Us link to enter your name and email. You'll be added to our mailing list.

We meet the 2nd Tuesday of every month.  Details are sent to those on the mailing list and often posted on this site.

Our goal is to network jewelry artists of all kinds, primarily in and around Northern Michigan. We envision this group will include, but not limited to; wirework, lampwork beading, metalsmithing, precious metal clay (pmc), lapidary, dichroic glass, fused glass, lampwork beading, chain making, enameling, polymer clay work, and beading.

Local college, Kirtland Community College, is working with the surrounding communities to build a Northern Michigan Super Artist Guild. Our group is involved in that effort and will be developing reciprocal opportunities with KCC.

The last meeting we were playing with copper washers to make earrings. It morphed into learning about using a disk cutter to cut shapes out of sheet metal, texturing with hammers, hole punching, using doming blocks, the tumbler, and antiquing. Folks wanted to continue the same things for this next meeting - so that's what we'll do.

We'll supply the washers, copper sheet, and a few other things for $1-$2 per person. Bring along your tools, some copper wire (usually 18, 20 and 22 gauge are good for earrings), and copper ear wires if you have them. Between the rest of us we'll have what you might be missing.
